Depth Gauge And
Twist Drill Marking System
The BIOMET 3i
depth measurement system provides a mark on the
drill that corresponds to the placement of the implant via a
well-established procedure.
BIOMET 3i’s original protocol
follows the principles of protecting the implant from
premature loading by placing the implant
subcrestally.

Note: A drill extension for areas of limited
access is available.
The drill depth markings do not indicate
implant lengths. Rather, the markings represent the length of
the implant with the cover screw in place. As a result, to
place an implant and cover screw subcrestally requires drilling to the
middle of the matching drill line. For
crestal placement, drill halfway before the
corresponding mark for the implant length. For
supracrestal placement, the drill mark should
remain above the bone by approximately 1.5mm. Please refer to
the following chart for further information.
